On 24 July 2026, Ms. Pinsuda Jayanama, Director-General of the Department of International Organizations, met with Mr. Indrika Ratwatte, Acting Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) on the occasion of his visit to Thailand.

Both sides exchanged views and shared the experiences of Thailand and OCHA on key humanitarian responses in the region, the safety and security of humanitarian personnel in the field, and the timely delivery of humanitarian assistance as well as the need to ensure the inclusion of all relevant stakeholders and the the importance of swift post-disaster response.

Acting Assistant Secretary-General commended Thailand for its important role in providing assistance to countries in the region responding to disasters and in facilitating engagement between ASEAN and Myanmar. Furthermore, the Acting Assistant Secretary-General expressed the hope that Thailand would be able to support OCHA by deploying its Emergency Medical Teams and Urban Search and Rescue teams to participate in humanitarian operations in the region and worldwide.
