Western African business and media delegation’s courtesy call on Deputy Director-General of the Department of South Asian,Middle East and African Affairs

On 5 March 2024, the business and media delegation, comprising 21 representatives from the Republic of Senegal and the Republic of The Gambia, paid a courtesy call on Ms. Wanalee Lohpechra, Deputy Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs. The courtesy call was a part of the Familiarization Trip for West African businesses and media to the Kingdom of Thailand between 2 - 9 March 2024 organized by the Royal Thai Embassy in Dakar, Senegal. The project has been carried out on annual basis since 2017, and successfully achieved in promotion of Thailand as a country with high potentials in economic, trade and investment.

The delegation was briefed by the Deputy Director-General on Thai economy and foreign policy towards Africa, and discussed their interest, particularly on ways and means to enhance trade and investment cooperation between the private sectors of Thailand and West African states, especially in the sectors of agriculture, manufacturing technology and products for health and beauty.

During this trip, the delegation also visited SCG packaging factory and Inspired Solutions Studio and had discussion with representatives from SDG Packaging Co., Ltd. In addition, the delegation also had a networking discussion with representatives from the Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking (JSCCIB - Thailand) and participated in THAIFEX - HOREC ASIA 2024.
