On 27 March 2026, Ms. Suchada Maktara, Deputy Director-General of the Department of ASEAN Affairs, led a delegation of over 50 participants of the “Thailand’s Efforts to Strengthen ASEAN’s Coordination in Disaster Management and Tabletop Exercise,” from government agencies and embassies of ASEAN Member States and Dialogue Partners, to visit to the Disaster Emergency Logistics System for ASEAN (DELSA) warehouse and logistics facility at Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Centre Region 16 in Chainat province.

The Deputy Director-General expressed her appreciation to Mr. Witthaya Chapanon, Deputy Governor of Chainat Province, for the hospitality extended to the delegation. She also highlighted the role of the DELSA in Chainat province in contributing to the region’s efforts to develop a strong disaster infrastructure. The delegation was briefed by Ms. Duangnapa Uttamangkhaphong, Director of the Bureau of Research and International Cooperation, on Thailand’s role in supporting the DELSA in Chainat province, and by Dr. Sithu Pe Thein, Director of Operations of the AHA Centre, on the DELSA and the role of DELSA in Chainat province.

This visit was part of the Special Programme “Thailand’s Efforts to Strengthen ASEAN’s Coordination in Disaster Management and Tabletop Exercise,” which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs co-organised with the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Ministry of Interior, from 26 to 27 March 2026.
