On 9 June 2026, Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, co-chaired the 8th Thailand - Switzerland Political Consultations with Mr. Markus Leitner, Assistant State Secretary and Head of the Asia and Pacific Affairs Division of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, in Bern. Also in attendance was Ms. Pannabha Chandraramya, Ambassador of Thailand to Switzerland.

Both sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation in various dimensions, including exchanging high-level visits, promoting trade and investment cooperation under the Thailand - European Free Trade Association (EFTA) Free Trade Agreement, advancing cooperation in science, technology and innovation, the transition to a green economy, and enhancing consular cooperation. They also exchanged views on regional and global issues, including developments in ASEAN and its cooperation with Switzerland as an ASEAN partner, cooperation in the Mekong sub-region, collaboration between Thailand and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in cybersecurity and combatting online scams, as well as cooperation within the United Nations framework.
