On 8 June 2026, Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, together with H.E. Ms. Pannabha Chandraramya, Ambassador of Thailand to Switzerland, and the delegation met with representatives from the Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (EMPA), a leading research institution in materials technology and applied science for sustainability in Switzerland. Both sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in materials science and technology, particularly opportunities for collaboration between Thailand's National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) and the EMPA. The delegation also visited EMPA’s solar cell and wastewater management facilities with the view to further enhance Thailand - Switzerland cooperation in circular economy.
On 9 June 2026, the Deputy Permanent Secretary and the delegation met with representatives from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), a renowned academic institution in technology and engineering in Switzerland. Both sides discussed ways to advance cooperation in technology for sustainable development, as well as opportunities to expand collaboration in science, research, and innovation between Thailand and Switzerland. The delegation also met with Thai students studying and conducting research in applied sciences at the EPFL.
