On 29 April 2026, Ms. Rujikorn Saengchantr, Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs, in her capacity as Thailand’s APEC Senior Official, had a discussion with Mr. Casey Mace, U.S. APEC Senior Official, during the latter’s visit to Thailand.
Both sides exchanged views on advancing Thailand - U.S. cooperation through various multilateral frameworks, with a particular focus on APEC and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The Thai side also invited the U.S. to nominate micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) for the 2026 APEC BCG Award. The U.S. side expressed interest in Thailand’s OECD accession process and commended the application of AI in supporting that effort.
Both sides also reaffirmed readiness to strengthen cooperation under the Mekong - U.S. Partnership (MUSP). The U.S. expressed support for Thailand’s priorities, including water resource management, tackling air pollution, and combating online scams. At the bilateral level, the U.S. emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration with Thailand in the fields of AI, energy security, and the development of critical minerals.
