Director-General of International Organizations Department meets with Ambassador of Armenia to Thailand, with residence in Beijing

On 30 June 2026, Ms. Pinsuda Jayanama, Director-General of the Department of International Organizations, had discussions with H.E. Mr. Vahe Gevorgyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Thailand, with residence in Beijing.

The Director-General congratulated Armenia on hosting the 17th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP17), which will take place from 19 - 30 October 2026 in Yerevan, Armenia, and reaffirmed Thailand’s readiness to support the successful organization of the Conference. She also reiterated Thailand’s commitment to implementing the Convention on Biological Diversity and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF) to accelerate the achievement of global biodiversity goals and targets.

The Ambassador informed Armenia’s preparation progress in hosting the CBD COP17 and invited Thailand’s high-level representatives to participate in the Leaders’ Summit on Biodiversity, an Armenian initiative aimed at demonstrating political commitment by world leaders to advancing biodiversity conservation. He noted that Armenia and Thailand have strong potential to expand cooperation on biodiversity conservation through new joint initiatives and activities.

Both sides also exchanged views on the implications of the current international political landscape for the multilateral system, the role of artificial intelligence and AI governance, and the role of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in promoting regional cooperation on issues of shared interest.
