On 18 July 2025, Ms. Sasirit Tangulrat, Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs had a discussion with Brigadier General Aloys Bizindavyi, Ambassador of the Republic of Burundi to the Kingdom of Thailand, with residence in New Delhi, who paid a courtesy call during his visit to Thailand to present the Letter of Credence to His Majesty the King and officially assume his role as the Ambassador of the Republic of Burundi to the Kingdom of Thailand.

The Director-General extended congratulations to the Burundian Ambassador and expressed Thailand’s readiness to further strengthen ties with Burundi in all dimensions, particularly in development cooperation. The Burundian Ambassador commended Thailand’s hospitality, as well as continued provision of scholarships and training opportunities to Burundian personnel. In addition, both sides agreed to further strengthen Thailand - Burundi relations through pursuing development programs and finalising pending bilateral agreements.
