On 8 September 2026, Ms. Somrudee Poopornanake, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, chaired a brainstorming meeting to advance security cooperation between Thailand and Europe. More than ten relevant security-related, Thai agencies attended to exchange views on global and regional security developments and challenges, as well as ways to further strengthen cooperation.

The meeting discussed key issues, including combatting online scams, promoting cyber security, hybrid threats and anti-money laundering, as well as countering the financing of terrorism. It also provided an opportunity for the relevant Thai agencies to jointly develop Thailand’s approaches and proposals for cooperation to promote more regular and structured engagement with European partners while translating discussions into more concrete cooperation.
