On 13 September 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with H.E. Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Leaders' Summit in New Delhi, India.

The two Ministers discussed ways to further advance the dynamic and close relations between Thailand and Bahrain, particularly as the two countries prepare to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027. They agreed to exchange high-level visits, promote greater trade and investment cooperation, and further advance ASEAN-GCC cooperation.

The two Ministers also exchanged views on developments in the Middle East, particularly their implications for maritime safety and freedom of navigation, the welfare of seafarers who remain stranded, and the impact on global supply chains, food security and the global economy. They underscored the importance of resolving disputes peacefully through dialogue and diplomacy within relevant multilateral frameworks, including the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
