On 26 May 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with H.E. Mr. Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, on the sidelines of the United Nations Security Council Open Debate in New York.

On this occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed profound condolences over the tragic coal mine gas explosion in Shanxi Province on 22 May 2026. Both sides also exchanged views on advancing the Thailand - China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, as well as on jointly promoting constructive roles at the regional and multilateral levels, including upholding a rules-based international order and multilateralism, with a view to maintaining global peace and stability. Both sides also discussed regional developments, including the situation in Myanmar and the Thailand - Cambodia border situation.
