On 6 November 2025, Mr. Chettaphan Maksamphan, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, had a discussion with H.E. Mr. Park Yong-min, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Thailand.

The Deputy Permanent Secretary congratulated the Republic of Korea on the successful hosting of APEC 2025 and expressed appreciation for the close coordination and support extended by the Korean side, which contributed to the smooth participation of H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister, and H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as the Thai delegation in the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week (AELW). Both sides reaffirmed the importance of strengthening cooperation amid rapid economic and technological changes, and exchanged views on digital and AI transformation and ways to handle demographic changes, which present both opportunities and challenges for the region.

Both sides discussed ways to further promote cooperation between Thailand and the Republic of Korea (ROK) in various dimensions, including the expansion of trade and investment, the progress of negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), Thailand’s Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) accession, and collaboration within the Mekong - ROK Cooperation and the Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) frameworks. They also discussed the expansion of cooperation on combating transnational crime and online scams. The Ambassador reaffirmed the ROK’s readiness to support an international conference against online scams, which Thailand plans to host within 2025.
