On 19 May 2026, Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, met with H.E. Ms. Kristiina Kuvaja-Xanthopoulos, Ambassador of Finland to Thailand.
Both sides discussed ways to further strengthen the longstanding and dynamic cooperation between Thailand and Finland. Discussions focused on preparations for the upcoming visit to Thailand by H.E. Ms. Outi Holopainen, Finnish Vice Minister, including a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, as well as the 6th Thailand - Finland Political Consultations to be hosted by Thailand in July 2026. Both sides also welcomed the upcoming 2026 OSCE Asian Conference, titled “Countering Transnational Threats in the Digital Era through Enhanced Co-operation in Asia and the OSCE Region,” which Thailand and Finland will co-host on 28 - 29 May 2026 at The Sukosol Hotel in Bangkok. The conference aims to strengthen Asia-Europe collaboration in addressing digital transnational threats and reflects Thailand’s active role within both OSCE and ASEAN frameworks.
The OSCE is the world’s largest regional security organization, serving as a platform for dialogue and preventive diplomacy. The organization comprises 57 participating States and 11 Partners for Co-operation. Thailand is the only ASEAN Member State serving as an OSCE Asian Partner for Co-operation.
