On 23 July 2025, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, discussed with Mr. Boris Titov, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Relations with International Organisations, during the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development 2025 (HLPF) at the United Nations Headquarters.

Both sides appreciated the cordial and dynamic bilateral relations between the two countries, particularly in trade and people-to-people ties, and agreed to further strengthen cooperation on sustainable development at both bilateral and multilateral levels, especially in addressing financing gaps and enhancing the capacity of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), enabling them to participate in the economy more sustainably. The Thai side also emphasised the importance of policies that enable broad-based and meaningful public participation, with active support from the government.

The Russian side also congratulated Thailand on presenting its Voluntary National Review (VNR) on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development this year. Russia is currently preparing its VNR and expressed interest in furthering cooperation with Thailand in this area.
