On 30 October 2025, H.E. Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the event “Celebrating 340 Years of Franco - Thai Economic Relations” to commemorate the 340th anniversary of the first contact between Siam and France, held at Royal Thai Navy Convention Hall and organised by the Conseillers du Commerce extérieur de la France (French Foreign Trade Advisors or CCEs) in collaboration with the French Embassy in Thailand.

Prior to the opening ceremony, participants observed a moment of silence to pay their respects to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. In his opening remark, the Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs highlighted the longstanding and robust relationship between Thailand and France, which dates back to the reign of King Narai in 1685 and the signing of the Treaty of Friendship, Commerce, and Navigation in 1856. He also emphasised the significance of bilateral economic cooperation and investment, which has generated value and employment for both countries. He also reaffirmed the commitment of both sides to elevate the bilateral relationship to a “Strategic Partnership” as well as to expand cooperation with France in emerging sectors, such as renewable energy, green economy, digital technology, and cyber security.

The event featured an exhibition of portraits of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, and a display illustrating the historical development of Thai - French economic cooperation, and was attended by over 200 executives and business representatives from both countries.
