On 16 August 2025, Ms. Siriporn Tantipanyathep, Consul-General of Thailand in Kolkata, served as the lay chairperson at a merit-making ceremony at the Royal Thai Monastery, Bodhgaya. The ceremony was dedicated to the late Chairpersons of the Thai Buddhist Missionary in India–Nepal, former Ambassadors of Thailand to India, and former Consuls-General in Kolkata. Presided over by Phra Phromvajiravongs, Abbot of the Royal Thai Monastery and Chairperson of the Thai Buddhist Missionary in India–Nepal, the event was attended by a large assembly of missionary monks who jointly conducted the annual rite in remembrance of their predecessors.

On this occasion, the Consul-General lit ceremonial incense and candles to pay tribute before the portraits of the former Ambassadors and Consuls-General, and later presented alms to the monks following the recitation of the funerary chant.

The commemoration and gathering of missionary monks offered an important opportunity to honor and dedicate merit to former missionary monks, Thai Ambassadors, and Consul-General who devoted their lives to the propagation of Buddhism and made enduring contributions to strengthening the bonds of friendship between Thailand and India.
