Bodh Gaya, India, 20 July 2025: Ms. Siriporn Tantipanyatep, Consul-General of Thailand in Kolkata, together with volunteers from Wat Thai Buddhagaya, participated in a meaningful voluntary service activity under the theme “We Do Good with Our Hearts”.
The initiative involved planting trees and enhancing the landscape at the sacred Bodh Gaya Temple and Wat Thai Buddhagaya to honor His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua in celebration of His Birthday on 28 July 2025 and the Royal Ceremony marking the King’s attainment of the same age as King Rama I, the founding monarch of the Chakri Dynasty.
The event was attended by Dr. Mahashweta Maharathi, Secretary of the Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee (BTMC), as well as Thai and Indian monks, volunteers, and medical personnel, all of whom participated with great joy and reverence. The activity was not only an expression of deep loyalty and gratitude to His Majesty the King but also served to preserve and promote the teachings of Buddhism. It symbolized a commitment to environmental preservation and reinforced the longstanding relationship between Thailand and India—two nations united by shared cultural and spiritual heritage.
By engaging in this community-driven initiative, the participants contributed not only to
the beautification of the revered Bodh Gaya and its sacred temples but also to the strengthening of Thai-Indian ties through mutual respect, faith, and collaboration. The
event was a powerful reminder of the importance of service, sustainability, and the
enduring bond between the two countries.
