On 2 July 2026, Mr. Panidone Pachimsawat, Deputy Director-General and Acting Director-General of the Department of Information, attended the event “On the Road to Bangkok WorldPride 2030: Connecting the Diplomatic Community with Pride Networks” at Dusit Thani Bangkok. The event, co-sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aimed to foster collaboration between the diplomatic community in Thailand and Pride networks, while raising awareness of and support for Thailand’s candidature to host Bangkok WorldPride 2030. On this occasion, the Acting Director-General delivered remarks in support of Thailand’s bid, alongside Mr. Passakorn Rangsivattanasak, Secretary to the Minister of Tourism and Sports, and Dr. Supawan Teerarat, President of the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB). The event was attended by ambassadors, representatives of foreign embassies and honorary consulates in Thailand, representatives of Thailand’s Pride networks, and distinguished guests from various sectors.

The Acting Director-General reaffirmed Thailand’s steadfast commitment to promoting human rights, equality, and the rights of persons of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities. Thailand is the first country in Southeast Asia to legalize same-sex marriage and continues to play a constructive role in advancing the rights of LGBTQI+ persons in multilateral fora, including the United Nations Human Rights Council and the Equal Rights Coalition (ERC). Thailand also remains committed to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Goal 5 on Gender Equality.

Thailand, through Naruemit Pride, also known as Bangkok Pride, has submitted its candidature to host Bangkok WorldPride 2030. The bid is supported by the Pride City Network Thailand, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, as well as a broad coalition of public and private sector partners. If Thailand is selected as the host, it will mark the first time that WorldPride has been held in Asia. It would also reinforce Thailand’s position as a society that values diversity and inclusion, while enhancing the country’s international profile, strengthening the creative industries, advancing the MICE industry, promoting high-quality tourism, and supporting the growth of Thailand’s Pink Economy.
