On 1 July 2026, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, attended the Canada Day Reception as the representative of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs at The Ritz-Carlton, Bangkok.
All guests observed a moment of silence in remembrance of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother and Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati Kromluang Rajasarinisiribajra Mahavajrarajadhita.
The Vice Foreign Minister congratulated the Government and people of Canada on the occasion of Canada Day. He reaffirmed the longstanding friendship between Thailand and Canada across various areas and referred to the recent telephone conversation between the Prime Minister of Thailand and the Prime Minister of Canada, during which both leaders expressed their readiness to strengthen cooperation, particularly in the economic sphere. The Vice Foreign Minister further emphasized that Thailand and Canada share common values, including promoting a rules-based international order and combating transnational crime, including cybercrime. He also commended Canada on the successful co-hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2026 with the U.S. and Mexico.
H.E. Ms. Ping Kitnikone, Ambassador of Canada to Thailand, delivered welcome remarks, highlighting the close and longstanding Thailand - Canada relationship of more than 65 years, encompassing a wide range of cooperation in trade and investment, security, social development, education, and culture. She underscored that Thailand - Canada cooperation is mutually supportive and complementary, like the Thai proverb, “A boat depends on the water, and the tiger depends on the forest,” and reaffirmed Canada's commitment to expanding cooperation with Thailand for the mutual benefit of the peoples of both countries.
