On 21 July 2025, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, led the Thai delegation to attend the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The theme of the HLPF2025 is “Advancing sustainable, inclusive, science- and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals for leaving no one behind”. The Forum is a key global platform to review, follow-up, and accelerate progress toward the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the SDGs.

The Minister jointly presented Thailand’s Third Voluntary National Review (VNR) on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda with Mr. Danucha Pichayanan, Secretary-General of the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC), and Assistant Professor Chol Bunnag, Director of the Centre for SDG Research and Support (SDG Move) at Thammasat University, reaffirming Thailand’s strong commitment to advancing the SDGs. As 2025 marks the 10th anniversary of the adoption of the 2030 Agenda by the United Nations, Thailand’s VNR highlighted three key areas: (1) statistical analysis reflecting Thailand’s progress on the SDGs over the past decade; (2) best practices to drive SDG implementation through policies and projects that contribute to economic, social, and environmental development; and (3) challenges and strategies to accelerate implementation in the remaining five years of the 2030 Agenda, drawing on assessments by the government and various stakeholders across Thailand.
