On 30 September 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the 2026 Meeting of the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) and participated in a panel discussion entitled “Thailand in a Changing World: How Can We Transform and Move Forward?”. The event was held at IMPACT Forum, Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi, and was attended by more than 2,000 participants from various sectors.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs highlighted the importance of Thailand’s foreign policy amid a rapidly changing global landscape. Thailand must respond through a proactive foreign policy and turn challenges into opportunities. To this end, Thailand will pursue its foreign policy through four approaches: (1) Diplomacy of Strategy, (2) Diplomacy of Speed, (3) Diplomacy of Coherence, whereby a strong foreign policy must be underpinned by a strong domestic foundation; one that is united, with all sectors working in the same direction, and (4) Diplomacy of Communication. These approaches enable Thailand’s foreign policy to create opportunities and deliver concrete benefits for Thailand and the Thai people.

The Deputy Prime Minister also emphasised several key priorities for Thailand, including building confidence in Thailand by demonstrating that Thailand is committed to being a constructive partner in the international community and contributes to a better global society; upholding the rules-based international order; maintaining peaceful and constructive relations with neighbouring countries; strengthening Thailand’s role in safeguarding ASEAN stability and security, and preserving Thailand’s strategic autonomy. These priorities will guide Thailand’s proactive and constructive engagement with the international community in navigating an increasingly complex and rapidly changing global landscape.
