Attending the 32nd Anniversary of Wat Buddha Thai Thavorn Vanaram, Asalha Puja Day, and Buddhist Lent Day Ceremonies

On July 26, 2026, Miss. Somjai Taphaopong, Consul-General of Thailand in New York, attended the 32nd Anniversary of the founding of Temple in New York, the Asalha Puja Day and Buddhist Lent Day ceremonies for the year 2026. Approximately The event was attended by 100 Thai and foreign Buddhists.

The event featured a merit-making ceremony, including offering morning alms, Sanghadana, (Thaiyatham), meal along with traditional Buddhist Lent candles and rain-bathing cloths (Pha Aab Nam Fon). The ceremony was presided over by Phra Khru Vithurdhammaprakas as the monastic chair, with revered monks from Wat New York Dhammararam, New York, chant auspicious prayers on this sacred occasion.

Located in New York, Temple serves as a spiritual hub for the local Thai community, regularly hosting religious activities and traditional cultural events. Thai temples abroad play a vital role as spiritual anchors for the diaspora, reflecting the unity and solidarity of the Thai community while preserving Thailand's rich cultural heritage and cherished traditions.

On the auspicious occasions of Asalha Puja Day and Buddhist Lent Day, several Thai temples within the jurisdiction of the Consulate-General, including those in New York City, organized merit-making and alms-offering ceremonies. Notable participating temples included Wat Nawamintararachutis and Vajiradhammapadip Temple, among others.
