"Welcoming Thai Filmmakers and Cast to the New York Asian Film Festival 2026"

On 14 July 2026, Ms. Somjai Taphaopong, Consul General of Thailand in New York, together with Mr. Thanakrit Lueangatsanathip, Director of the Thai Trade Center, New York, Ms. Sansanee Amadtayakul Vasasmith, Acting Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, New York Office, Ms. Thammajit Thitimontre and Ms. Katesuda Thongna Consul at the Royal Thai Consulate General in New York, welcomed Mr. Donsaron Kovitvanitcha, Director of the Bangkok International Film Festival, Mr. Jirayu (James) Tangsrisuk – Actor from “Tha Rae”, Mr. Mario Maurer – Actor from “4 Tigers”, along with Thai directors and film production teams participating in the New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF) 2026, held from 10–26 July 2026 in New York City.

This year, 7 Thai films were selected for screening: "4 Tigers, Gohan, Human Resource, Mon-rak Transistor, Someone Special, Tha Rae: The Exorcist, and The Undertaker 2: World After Death", showcasing the diversity and growing international appeal of Thailand's film industry.

During the visit, the Consul General met with Mr. Donsaron Kovitvanitcha and representatives of Banthai Studio Co., Ltd. to exchange views on strategies for promoting Thai films in the U.S. market. Both sides agreed that NYAFF provides as an important platform for increasing the visibility of Thai cinema in North America, expanding professional networks and business opportunities, strengthening Thailand's film industry ecosystem, and promoting Thailand as an premier destination for tourism and international film production.
