On 22 July 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference with Australia, on the sidelines of the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Related Meetings in Manila, the Philippines.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the ASEAN - Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) as this year marks its fifth anniversary of the CSP and to promoting concrete cooperation across all areas. They also underscored the importance of strengthening security cooperation, particularly in maritime security, cybersecurity, combatting transnational crime, including online scams. At the same time, both sides promoted economic cooperation to address geopolitical uncertainties, particularly in the areas of energy, food security, trade, investment, and infrastructure development through the Partnership for Infrastructure (P4I).

Both sides agreed to strengthen socio-cultural cooperation, particularly in public health, environmental protection, disaster management, and education, to address climate change, and emerging diseases, through the Mekong - Australia Partnership and the ASEAN Centre for Public Health Emergencies and Emerging Diseases (ACPHEED). In addition, they also exchanged views on regional and international developments, including developments in Myanmar, the situation in the Middle East and the energy crisis.

Australia has established its Dialogue Relations with ASEAN since 1974, making it the first Dialogue Partner of ASEAN. Over the years, Australia has continued to support ASEAN cooperation through many initiatives includingthe Aus4ASEAN Futures Initiative.
