Director-General of European Affairs Department co-chairs the 1st Thailand - Armenia Political Consultations

On 12 September 2025, Mrs. Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, and Mrs. Anahit Karapetyan, Director-General of the Asia-Pacific Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia co-chaired the 1st Thailand–Armenia Political Consultations in Yerevan.

Both sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between Thailand and Armenia in areas such as high-level visits, agriculture, economy, trade, and multilateral engagement. The meeting marks the inaugural round since the signing of the Protocol on Consultations between the two ministries in 1999.

The Director-General also paid a courtesy call on and met with (1) Mr. Mnatsakan Safaryan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, to explore opportunities for advancing political and economic relations. Thailand also sought Armenia’s support for commencing negotiations on the Thailand - Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement; (2) Mr. Narek Babayan, Head of the Armenia - Thailand Friendship Group, on parliamentary cooperation and the potential establishment of the Thailand - Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group; and (3) Ms. Emma Movsisyan, Head of the Trade and Integration Department at the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, to explore the possibility of initiating negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement between Thailand and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
