On 16 September 2025, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, had a discussion with Mr. Carl Skau, Deputy Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of the World Food Programme (WFP), during the latter's visit to Thailand.
Both sides exchanged views on the WFP's role in providing food assistance and logistical support for aid delivery for those in need in conflicts in many parts of the world, as well as in areas affected by natural disasters and the challenges arising from and the possible ways of addressing the global trend of humanitarian aid cuts. The Permanent Secretary reaffirmed Thailand's commitments in working closely with WFP to provide humanitarian assistance to displaced populations in the region.
The Permanent Secretary, as a representative of the Royal Thai Government, also presented a financial contribution of 700,000 Baht to WFP to provide assistance on food security for the Rohingya population in Bangladesh, in line with Thailand’s pledge at the 2nd Global Refugee Forum (GRF) in 2023 in Geneva.
