On 26 August 2025, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, had a discussion with H.E. Mr. Foivos Georgios Angeletos, Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to Thailand, who paid a farewell call on the occasion of the completion of his tenure.
The Permanent Secretary commended the Ambassador for his significant role in advancing bilateral relations between Thailand and the Hellenic Republic, particularly through the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of Bilateral Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both sides in February 2025. They also discussed convening the inaugural round of bilateral consultations in Athens, which would serve as a platform to exchange policy perspectives and enhance cooperation in various areas such as maritime affairs, services, logistics, agriculture, tourism, and education. The Permanent Secretary expressed appreciation to the Hellenic Republic for its continued support of the negotiations on the Thailand - European Union (EU) Free Trade Agreement and for Schengen visa exemption for Thai passport holders.
In addition, both sides also exchanged views on the Thailand - Cambodia border situation. The Ambassador conveyed his understanding of the circumstances and expressed hope that both sides, through bilateral mechanisms, would be able to resolve the matter peacefully in accordance with the international law.
