The Prime Minister addressed the “SDG Moment 2021”, held virtually during the High-level Week of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly on 20 September 2021.

In his pre-recorded remarks, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha reiterated Thailand’s commitment to cooperate with the international community to accelerate SDGs implementation. Thailand’s pathway towards SDGs attainment within this decade involves three milestones: (1) the promotion of quality of life and well-being for people of all ages through a robust public health system and inclusive Universal Health Coverage; (2) the adoption of a “Balance of All Things” approach by applying the Bio-Circular-Green Economy Model or BCG; and (3) bridging the digital gap and promoting digital literacy and accessibility. These milestones will help build back better post-COVID-19 and ensure that no one is left behind.

Thailand, as one of the 42 Member States that presented a Voluntary National Review (VNR) on the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development this year, was specifically invited to address the event. It was an opportunity for Thailand to join other countries in sharing its visions on building back better, promoting sustainable development and attaining the SDGs after the COVID-19 pandemic, with the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy as guiding light.
