Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Korea Meets with Senior Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Senior Executives to Discuss Trade and Investment Cooperation

On 5 June 2025, from 09.00 to 10.00 hrs., H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Korea, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Sanan Angubolkul, Senior Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Trade of Thailand, along with senior executives of the Chamber, at the Board of Trade of Thailand in Bangkok. The meeting aimed to enhance trade and investment cooperation between Thailand and the Republic of Korea.
The key points of discussion were as follows:
1. Promotion of Trade and Investment between Thailand and the Republic of Korea
- The Ambassador encouraged the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Thai entrepreneurs to consider expanding trade and investment with the Republic of Korea, particularly in four high-potential industries: 1) real estate, 2) creative economy, 3) fruit exports, and 4) bio-circular economy.
- The Chamber requested that the Embassy provide support to help Thai music businesses learn from the best practices of successful Korean counterparts in monetizing and collecting music royalties abroad. This initiative aims to enhance the economic value of Thailand’s music industry.
2. Sawasdee Seoul Thai Festival: Discover Thailand 2025
- The Ambassador sought the Chamber’s support in promoting and encouraging Thai entrepreneurs to participate in the "Sawasdee Seoul Thai Festival: Discover Thailand 2025," scheduled to take place from 6 - 7 September 2025 at Cheonggyecheon Plaza in Seoul. The event aims to present a new image of Thailand through the promotion of Thai restaurants, Thai soft power, partically by highlighting the influence of T-Pop in South Korea. It will also promote Thai products, culture, and innovation, including future food, wellness products and services, Thai herbs, traditional Thai medicine and related products, as well as Thai massage.
- Target audiences include Korean youth, media and social media influencers, representatives from the Korean public and private sectors, as well as the diplomatic corps and Thai community in South Korea. The festival is expected to attract approximately 60,000 attendees.
3. Ignite Thailand-Korea Business Forum, Bangkok
- The Ambassador invited the Chamber to serve as co-host of the Thailand-Korea Business Forum, which will be held from 17 - 19 November 2025 in Bangkok. The forum aims to build confidence among Korean businesses and investors interested in exploring opportunities in Thailand and to facilitate business matching with high-potential Thai entrepreneurs. The activities include meetings between Korean investors and relevant Thai agencies, organizations, and companies, including site visits to industrial estates in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), and seminars introducing Thailand’s investment promotion policies. The event is expected to attract around 100 Korean business representatives, primarily from the construction sector.
Both sides expressed their full commitment to supporting mutual initiatives to promote Thai businesses and entrepreneurs, as well as to strengthen bilateral relations between Thailand and the Republic of Korea.
