On 29 July 2025, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a bilateral discussion with H.E. Mr. Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, during the latter’s working visit to Thailand.
Both sides discussed ways to further deepen the Thailand - Viet Nam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP), including through regular high-level exchanges, strengthened economic cooperation, and enhanced people-to-people ties. They also looked forward to the development of an action plan to translate the CSP into tangible outcomes, focusing on key potential areas such as digital transformation, food security and workforce development for future industries.
In addition, both sides also exchanged views on regional developments, including Thailand - Cambodia situation. Viet Nam welcomed the ceasefire and hoped that both sides would resolve the conflict and differences peacefully and avoid the use of force in accordance with international law. The Foreign Minister reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to resolving differences with Cambodia peacefully and in good faith through existing bilateral mechanisms and in accordance with international law. He also emphasised Thailand’s readiness to work closely with ASEAN, including Viet Nam, to uphold peace and stability in the region.
