On 28 November 2025, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary, co-chaired the 10th Japan - Thailand Political Partnership Consultations (JTPPC) with Mr. Namazu Hiroyuki, Senior Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

Both sides discussed ways to advance cooperation in political and economic dimensions, people-to-people exchanges, and sub-regional cooperation, as well as exchanged views on regional situations. They also reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to pave the way toward celebrating the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027.

In addition, both sides agreed to explore possibilities for arranging high-level visits and strengthening cooperation through existing bilateral mechanisms, including the High-Level Joint Commission (HLJC), the Energy and Industry Dialogue (EID), and the Japan - Thailand Economic Partnership Agreement (JTEPA). They also exchanged views on cooperation that could enhance Thailand’s long-term research capacity, innovation, and competitiveness, particularly the KOSEN programme and synchrotron technology.

The JTPPC is one of several mechanisms between Thailand and Japan to discuss cooperation on various issues. It was first held in 2004, co-chaired by the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand.
