Regarding press reports on remarks made by H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, in response to questions posed to him at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Thailand on 25 September 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to clarify as follows:

1. Certain press reports citing the Minister of Foreign Affairs’s remarks regarding maintaining “the status quo” in relation to the question of the current situation between Japan and China were misrepresented;

2. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to reiterate Thailand’s firm and longstanding position in upholding the One-China Policy, and that Thailand will not support any call for the independence of Taiwan;

3. Thailand’s position on this issue has always been consistent: it must be addressed through dialogue and peaceful means, without external interference, in the interest of the stability of the region as a whole.
