On 14 November 2025, Mr. Piyapak Sricharoen, Director-General of the Department of East Asian Affairs, held discussions with Mr. Nguyen Tat Thanh, Director-General of the Department of Southeast Asia, South Asia, and South Pacific of Viet Nam, and Mr. Nguyen Manh Dong, Vice President, Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam. He also paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam.

Both sides followed up on the outcomes of the recent discussions between the Prime Ministers and Foreign Ministers of the two countries, including plans for exchanges of high-level visits, the development of a Joint Action Plan following the elevation of bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in May 2025 and preparations for commemorative activities to mark the 50th anniversary of Thailand - Viet Nam diplomatic relations in 2026.

They also exchanged views on regional issues, as well as ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries within various cooperation frameworks, particularly in the Mekong sub-region.
