On 17 September 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo organised a “Rice and Non-Perishable Food Items in Support of Second Harvest Japan” volunteering activity to commemorate the 100th Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Ananda Mahidol, 20 September 2025.  H.E. Mr. Witchu Vejjajiva, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, led officials and staff of
the Royal Thai Embassy, members of Team Thailand, and their families in this initiative. Second Harvest Japan will distribute the donated rice and non-perishable food items to underprivileged families, children’s homes, welfare organisations, and persons in need throughout Japan.

Second Harvest Japan is a non-profit organisation and Japan’s first food bank, established in 2002. Its core mission is to receive surplus food from companies and individuals and redistribute it to those in need across the country. The organisation’s key activities include operating a nationwide food banking network, running food pantry programs, providing community meals for the homeless, as well as advocating for food loss reduction and social welfare.
