On 8 July 2025, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, on the sidelines of the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Related Meetings in Kuala Lumpur, as follows:
(1) Foreign Minister discussed ways to build on the momentum from the Prime Minister of Thailand’s Official Visit to Viet Nam and the 4th Joint Cabinet Retreat meeting in May 2025, which both sides have elevated their relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP). They agreed to maintain regular exchange of high-level visits and to develop a Plan of Action for CSP implementation with focus on strategic areas, such as technology and innovation, food security, and connectivity. In addition, both sides also exchanged views on regional issues of mutual interest.(2) Foreign Minister congratulated Secretary Lazaro on her recent appointment and discussed ways to enhance Thailand - Philippines bilateral relations in all dimensions, especially economic cooperation. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing high-level exchanges, trade and investment, food security and supply chain collaboration. They also exchanged views on regional issues of mutual interest. In addition, Foreign Minister Maris also offered Thailand’s full support for the Philippines as the ASEAN Chair next year.
