The Royal Thai Embassy in Santiago and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand organized a Thai cultural show in Chile during 1-6 July 2013 at 3 different venues and with 3 different theme; (1) Teatro Parque Cultural de Valparaiso – “Thai Traditional Dance in Valparaiso” (2) Teatro Carabineros de Chile in Santiago – “Thai Night” and (3) Club de Golf Sport Frances – “A Taste of Thailand”. The cultural troupe from Bangkok also performed at the opening ceremony of Thai pavilion situated in Parque Arauco, Las Condes. The pavilion was built to be part of the celebration of 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Chile in 2012.
Apart from the Thai traditional dance, the Federacion Chilena de Muay Thai and Muay Thai Sport Club in Santiago arranged the demonstration of Thai boxing as well. The Embassy also coordinated with two Thai restaurants (Thai house and Lai Thai), Thai Silk shop, Thai traditional massage shop (Arokaya), Tour operators to exhibit their products and provide services to attendants before and after the show.
In addition to the above, Cineplanet Theatre at Costanera Center and Santiago Library gave cooperation to the embassy in film screening; Tom Yum Goong and Kon Khon during 2 – 3 July.
More than 1,000 people attended the show and the movies. It is strongly believed that the show can create a better understanding about Thailand and hopefully created Thailand in the hearts and minds of Chileans.
