On 8 October 2013, Ms. Panpimon Suwannapongse, Thai Consul-General in Ho Chi Minh City,  attended the ceremony to mark the establishment of Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association of Long An Province at the Office of the People’s Committee of Long An.

     Currently, the Friendship Association has 200 members from public and private sectors in the province, and has Mr. Le Ba Phuoc, Vice Chairman of Long An People’s Council, as the Friendship Association’s first chairman.  Both sides are hopeful that this newly established  Friendship Association will be an important mechanism for promoting people-to-people contact between he people of Long An Province and the people of Thailand through multi-faceted cooperation and collaborative activities, including tourism, agriculture, education and health care.
