On 8 October 2013, Mrs. Kesanee Palanuwongse, Deputy Consul General, attended the launch of the "Asia on Your Doorstep" Festival, a festival organized by City of Sydney for a second year to promote restaurants in the Haymarket area, and  there are nearly 20 Thai restaurants in the Thai Town area participating. Customers who dine at the participating restaurants could enter the draw to win the biggest prize, a return ticket from Sydney-Bangkok, supported by the Tourism Authority of Thailand. 

     Last year, this Festival has let to the cooperation between the Thai restaurants/Community and City of Sydney, which resulted into the support to have the "Thai Town" signs. The vigorous participation of Thai restaurants, and the winning prize supported from TAT, this year has been praised by City of Sydney as they represent the stronger commitment of the Thai Community in Sydney.
