During 10 – 11 January 2015, Mrs. Makawadee Sumitmor, Director of News Division, Department of Information, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand; Thailand’s GMM Tai Hub Co. Ltd (GTH) executives together with the director and the leading actress of the Thai film “I Fine Thank You Love You” attended the film’s premiere events in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This Thai film and Thai TV series promotion project in Cambodia was co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Royal Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh, GTH and Thailand Foundation.

 

            The events started off on 10 January 2015 with the meet-and-greet activity at Legend Cinema, City Mall, followed by the Gala Premiere at Major Cineplex, Aeon Mall.  The movie was very well received in Cambodia especially among young Cambodians who are fans of Thai movies and stars.  It also received a lot of media coverage with local TV channel and magazine getting special interviews with the director and the leading actress on 11 January 2015. The event has contributed to the strengthening of cultural ties with neighbouring Cambodia.   

 

            The Thai film and Thai TV series promotion project is one of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ cultural diplomacy initiatives which aim at promoting Thailand’s positive image through cultural features including movies and TV series which have been rising in popularity in many countries in the region. In the long term, it would also contribute to better understanding and confidence in Thailand among foreigners.
