During 15 - 16 October 2025, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, led the Thai delegation to the 19th Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) under the theme “Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence” in Kampala, Republic of Uganda.

The Advisor to the Foreign Minister delivered Thailand’s statement at the Meeting, emphasizing that NAM member states must work together to promote and reform the multilateral system with the United Nations at the core. He also underscored the need to revitalize NAM’s working methods to enable developing countries to play a leading role in addressing contemporary global challenges, such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, the peaceful use of outer space, and the fight against online crime. He also stressed the importance of upholding the Bandung Principles on the peaceful settlement of disputes and reaffirmed Thailand’s steadfast commitment to peace, while standing firm in the defense of its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Thailand has always been committed to a peaceful resolution through diplomacy and has always insisted on working with Cambodia to resolve differences through dialogue and existing bilateral mechanisms, in good faith and with sincerity.

The Meeting also exchanged views on key international issues of shared concern, including the situation in the Middle East and Africa, the promotion of South - South cooperation, counter-terrorism, disarmament, sustainable development, and climate change. Thailand took the opportunity to welcome the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit in Egypt, which represented a significant step toward advancing a peaceful resolution to the situation in Gaza through genuine dialogue between Palestine and Israel, in line with the two-State solution.

NAM was established in 1961 during the Cold War consisting of 121 member states that are not formally aligned with or against any major power bloc. At present, NAM places importance on cooperation among developing countries to forge a common position in the promotion of their interests in multilateral forum, especially at the United Nations.
