Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs co-chaired the First Kazakhstan - Thailand Bilateral Political Consultations in Kazakhstan

On 5 - 7 March 2026, H.E. Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, paid a visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan to co-chair the First Kazakhstan - Thailand Bilateral Political Consultations with H.E. Mr. Alibek Bakayev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Both sides discussed ways to promote bilateral cooperation across all areas, particularly in the economic sphere. They also agreed to establish a Roadmap to outline directions and identify sectors of mutual interest where both sides aim to deliver tangible outcomes in 2027, when Thailand and Kazakhstan will commemorate the 35th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations.
The Secretary to the Foreign Minister also met with high-level officials and representatives of various agencies of Kazakhstan to discuss bilateral cooperation and preparations for the upcoming visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to Kazakhstan, including the Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Governor of Almaty Region, the Deputy Akim of Almaty, and representatives of Kazakhstan’s economic agencies. They discussed the promotion of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of trade and investment, logistics, and tourism. The Kazakh side expressed its readiness to participate in trade shows in Thailand and strengthen cooperation with the Thai private sector. The Secretary to the Foreign Minister also met with members of a Thai community in Almaty and representatives of Thai companies investing in Kazakhstan to exchange views on trade opportunities.
The Republic of Kazakhstan is the top trading partner of Thailand in Central Asia. In 2025, bilateral trade between Thailand and Kazakhstan reached 170 million USD, and more than 160,000 Kazakh tourists visited Thailand.
