Special Envoy of the Royal Thai Government offers condolences on the passing of the Former Amir of the State of Qatar

On 15 July 2026, H.E. Mr. Jeseth Thaiseth, Deputy Minister of Interior, as Special Envoy of the Royal Thai Government, had an audience with His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, to offer condolences on the passing of His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the former Amir of the State of Qatar and Father Amir, at Lusail Palace in Lusail, Qatar.

On behalf of the Royal Thai Government, the Deputy Interior Minister conveyed Thailand’s profound condolences, paid tribute to the Father Amir’s visionary leadership, and recalled His Highness’ official visits to Thailand in 1999 and 2006, which marked significant milestones in the friendship between Thailand and Qatar. His Highness the Amir conveyed his best wishes to His Majesty the King and to the Royal Thai Government, commended Thailand’s multicultural society, and reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to further strengthening the close cooperation between the two countries.

The Deputy Interior Minister also had discussions with a representative from the Education City Mosque, one of Qatar’s most prominent religious landmarks, located within Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s College of Islamic Studies. He later visited the Royal Thai Embassy in Doha, where he received a briefing on the Embassy’s consular services.
