On 10 May 2025, Ambassador Arunrung Phothong Humphreys and staff from the Royal Thai Embassy participated in the Songkran (Thai New Year) celebration organised by Wat Buddhabhavana Västerås. The event included offering of food to monks, celebration parade around the community surrounding the temple, and washing of monks and elders’ hands to pay respect and receive blessing, decoration of sand pagodas, Thai performances and a Thai food market. The event was also joined by the Thai community in Västerås, Ludvika, and other towns in Sweden.

On this occasion, the Ambassador expressed admiration for the Thai community for preserving Thai arts, culture, and traditions by teaching Thai classical music and dance to the youth and providing stages for them to showcase their talents, as well as decorating events with traditional ornaments.
